James Harold Joiner

I turned to painting after a long career in architecture and interior design. I was instrumental in the design of numerous buildings and corporate interiors in Houston and other cities in Texas and the United States, as well as in cities abroad during my ten year residence in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. During my time there, I traveled extensively throughout the Middle East, Africa, the Indian Subcontinent, Southeast Asia, and Europe.

Since my return to permanent residence in Houston, Texas in late 2001, I have studied life drawing, painting, and photography at the Glassell School of the Museum of Fine Arts Houston and at the Art League Houston. My work is inspired by nature and the conditions of light in the world around us. I have executed private commissions and participated in group shows with fellow artists as well as organized exhibits through my academic pursuits.
