Di's Vision is a mixed media painting created to reflect the music of the jazz band "Maydwell." I was commissioned by the band to create their new CD cover. After meeting with the members of the band and listening to their music repeatedly, I decided that the palette should be vibrant and energetic, like their music, and the brush strokes be deliberate and defined. The sheet music that you see in the painting is one of the band's new songs called "Rosie." Also visible are the instruments that each musician plays. I think it is important that as you view the image, you know the names of the musicians and the instruments that they play. Jeff plays the guitar, Lloyd plays the sax, Ken plays the bass, Pete plays the drums, and Wayne is on keyboard. Creating this painting was such a thrill for me; my goal was to create a painting that did justice to the art of five very talented guys.
