Artist's StatementThe appreciation and the creation of art has always been an integral part of my life from my earliest childhood days. Although professionally I became a registered nurse, I have experimented and created art throughout the years using many different mediums. I try to capture a sense of the beauty surrounding us in our daily lives whether in people, animals, places or things.
Of recent interest to me is the creation of Original Linoleum Cut Art Prints also known as linocuts. The majority of my originals are printed at the Museum of Printing History in Houston, Texas. After drawing and carving the image onto the block of linoleum, each piece is individually hand inked and pressed thereby accounting for variations from print to print.
It is especially gratifying when I can capture that special family farmhouse, animal or building for clients who want custom work created. The blocks that become the final "tool" of the printmaking process are sculptural things of beauty in themselves.
